I love comic books, video games, science fiction, fantasy, geeky movies, role playing games, anime, and things of that ilk.
And I am a young professional.
Balancing the two can be quite difficult. On one hand I want to walk around with electric blue hair and wear t-shirts that have “I Roll Twenties” emblazoned on the front. On the other hand, I have a certain image I need to project in the world I spend 40+ hours per week in.
Around the cooler, I can’t discuss the latest reality TV show or American Idol contestant. I’m more interested in what’s going to be coming up on Battlestar Galactica or the upcoming changes due in Wrath of the Lich King. While they read Seven Habits, I read book seven of Harry Potter. They go to Vegas, I go to PAX.
What’s a geek to do?
This blog is dedicated to being a professional person and a geek. Striking that balance between who you are and who the world expects you to be. Dealing with the work party and the nerdy afterparty.
I know I can’t be the only one.
